Montecristo Cuban Cigars Brand

Montecristo Cuban cigars brand was originally introduced in 1935 as “the H. Upmann Montecristo Selection”, by Menendez, Garcia y Cia, then owners of another popular brand, H. Upmann Cuban cigars.

Distributed extensively throughout the world, Montecristos are loved by smokers because of their high-quality tobacco blend and rich, unique flavors. In fact, they account for nearly half of Cuba's total cigar production, and make up for almost 40% of all the Cuban cigars exported each year.

The name of the cigar is inspired from Alexandre Dumas' novel, Le Comte de Monte Cristo. The John Hunter firm, appointed at the time as the brand’s British distribution agent, shortened the name to Montecristo and developed the current logo of an attractive fleur-de-lis and triangular crossed swords.

Cuban Montecristo cigars are medium-to-full bodied smokes with a rich, disticntive flavors. Montecristos are made with dark wrapper leaves, which give the cigars their characteristic deep and very rich taste.
