Diplomaticos Cuban cigars are a range of superior, medium-
to full-bodied, handmade cigars that was originally made for the French market
in the 1960s, as a lower-priced alternative to the Montecristo.
The range comes in seven sizes and availability is somewhat limited, but these
cigars represent a good value.
Diplomaticos Cuban cigars are one of the few Havana cigar brands exclusively handmade and hand-rolled. Like the Montecristo,
these cigars are made at the the Jose Marti factory in Havana. However, the
special tobacco blend used to make Diplomáticos produces a distinctively
rich nutty flavor.
The band of the Diplomaticos Cuban cigars, featuring a red
horse-drawn carriage, has been widely copied by the Dominican manufacturer of
Licenciados Cigars. However, the word "Diplomaticos" on the genuine
cigar band actually touches the gold rim of the design - a common imperfection
associated with Cuban bands.
