Laguito No. 1
A cigar that is 7 1/2 inches long with a 38 ring gauge.

Better known as the Lancero, this cigar takes its name from Havana's El Laguito factory. Its slender length, along with the twist of wrapper leaf on the cap, makes it an elegant cigar.

Lance
A cutter used to pierce a small hole in the closed end of a cigar.

See also Bullet Cutter, Bull’s Eye Piercer.

Lancero
See Laguito No. 1.

Lector
Traditionally, the person who read stories or newspaper articles throughout the day to the cigar rollers while they work.

Ligador
The master blender in a cigar factory.

Ligero
One of the three basic types of filler tobacco.

Meaning “light” in Spanish, the name refers to the top most leaves of the tobacco plant that are richest in flavour and often darkest in colour. This aromatic tobacco adds body to a blend.

The two other types of filler tobacco are called seco and volado.

Long Filler
Filler tobacco that runs the length of the body of the cigar.

Whole tobacco leaves are selected and rolled by hand to create a looser and easier draw of smoke. However, a long filler cigar is much more difficult to properly make than a short filler cigar.

See also Cut Filler, Filler.

Lonsdale
A standard cigar size typically 6 to 6 3/4 inches with a 42 to 44 ring gauge, but there are many variations. A Lonsdale is a sub-category of Parejos cigars.

Named after the English Earl, Lord Lonsdale, who preferred the elegance of a long cigar, this cigar is traditionally known as a Cervantes.
