Panetela
The standard cigar size for this category is typically 4 inches long with a 28 ring gauge. However, the format can vary widely, ranging from 5 to 7 inches with a ring gauge from 34 to 38.

Panetela is a sub-category of Parejos cigars, and are usually longer and thinner than the common Corona.


Parejo
A straight-sided cigar such as a box pressed Coronas, Panetelas and Lonsdales.


Partido
A prime tobacco growing area in Cuba, specializing in the cultivation of wrapper leaves.

Partido is part of a historic group of growing regions founded in the early 17th Century. Encompassing Havana, it is the base for some of the most famous Habano cigar factories.


Perfecto
A distinctive cigar shape with a rounded head and a closed foot. A Perfecto cigar usually has a bulge in the middle of the body.


Perla
See Tres Petit Corona.


Petit Belicoso
This standard cigar size is typically about 5 inches long with a 40 ring gauge. Petit Belicoso cigars have a pointed, cone-shaped head.


Petit Corona
This standard cigar size is typically 5 to 5 1/4 inches long with a 42 ring gauge.

The most popular of all the cigar sizes, this short corona format allows for three filler leaves to be evenly blended, giving it a smooth smoke.

It is traditionally referred to as a Mareva.


Piercer

Piramide
Also referred to as a Torpedo, because of the its tapered head and shoulder, this cigar it is said to have better combustibility.


Planchas
The wooden boards on which tobacco leaves are spread before fermentation.


Plug
A tight spot or blockage that sometimes occurs in the tobacco that can prevent a cigar from drawing properly. A plug can sometimes be alleviated by gently massaging the cigar.


Plume

Primings
The rows of leaves on a tobacco plant.

The number of primings varies, but on average a tobacco plant will have 6 rows. The first priming is closest to the ground, the sixth is near the top. The higher the priming the stronger the tobacco.


Prominente

Puro
The Spanish term to describes a cigar whose filler, binder and wrapper come from the same country.


Pyramid
This cigar is about 6 to 7 inches long with a 52 ring gauge.

Sharply tapered cigar with a wide, open foot, Pyramid cigars have pointed, cone shaped head.
