The Punch Cuban cigars was founded in 1840 by Don Manuel Lopez
of J. Valle & Company. and is one of the oldest Havana cigar brands still being produced today. The name was adopted with the British
market in mind, at a time when the humourous magazine, Punch, was extremely
popular. The familiar character of Mr. Punch smoking a cigar, is still featured
on the labels of each Punch cigar box.
The large range of superior-quality cigars, some of which are machine-made,
is medium- to full-flavoured and reasonably priced. All Punch Cuban
cigars have strong aromas, mainly fruity and woody tastes.
Confusingly, there is also a range of Punch cigars made in Honduras.
