The Quintero Cuban cigars brand started when Augustin Quintero
opened a small factory in the 1920s in Cienfuegos, near the Remedios tobacco-growing
region in the centre of Cuba. The success of his cigars enabled him to found,
with his eldest brother, the Quintero y Hermano company in Havana in 1940.
Some of the Quintero range of cigars are machine-made and appear in the same
sizes as the handmade range. However, Quintero Cuban cigars
are primarily in machine-bunched/hand-finished.
Although now manufactured in the El Rey del Mundo factory in Havana, the packaging for Quintero Cuban cigars makes reference to the company's origins in Cienfuegos.
