Up until 1998, Trinidad Cuban Cigars were considered the rarest
cigar brand in
the world, unavailable to retail outlets. It was believed that Trinidad Funadores
were manufactured exclusively for Fidel Castro as personal gifts to visitng
heads of state. However, that has since been disproved by Castro himself in
a 1994 interview.
In February 1998, the Trinidad Cuban cigars brand was officially
launched for export. At first, the cigars were available in Canada and Mexico,
then subsequently to the rest of the world.
Trinidad Funadores were the only cigar size being produced before 2003. By
October 2003, Trinidad launched three new shapes – Coloniales, Reyes and
Robusto Extra.
A superb-quality cigar with a medium- to full-bodied flavor, herbal, floral
and hints of bean flavors characterize the taste of Trinidad Cuban cigars.
